WHAT'S ALL THIS ABOUT / Our Marriage Party
Our wedding day isn't about us.
It's about the people who made "us" possible. In place of a wedding reception, we'd like to increase quality time with our closest friends by offering 3 nights and 4 days at a private mega-cabin in Silverthorne, Colorado — guests sleep free.
So be sure to bring your dinner jackets, best hot tub swimsuits, and mountain-gazing A-games for a weekend in the mountains — plus, all-you-can-drink and a family style dinner with local private chef, Jennifer Levasseur.
[RSVP above to receive regular email blasts from us regarding all-things wedding related, including general FAQs, travel information, and more]

Nathan & Kyah Meet in College, 2019
In 2019, Kyah and Nathan were both Freshmen at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. During a random Spring weekend, Kyah was invited to her first college house party. She was told to meet the group on the 11th floor of the South Tower dorm -- where she immediately noticed a boy in a blue flannel sitting at his computer (ugh, antisocial). About 10 minutes after, Kyah started playing her playlist, "Music for Vapid People." (Not a great start on both ends).
When Nathan took over the music later that night, he played "Couldn't Stand the Weather" by Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Nathan will tell you, 7 years later, how surprised he was to hear "No way, this is Couldn't Stand the Weather by Stevie Ray Vaughn" and look up to see Kyah, earnestly holding a glass of cherry coke and vodka.
Playing Hooky in Chicago, 2019
After that night, Kyah and Nathan were fast friends. Nathan, a bit more reserved -- and Kyah, someone who could only be described as "chaotic good."
Their favorite things to do were going on long walks, listening to music in silence, and hanging out at Atwater Beach. One Thursday morning, Kyah entered Nathan's dorm room and said, "Let's go to Chicago, there's an Amtrak leaving at noon today." Despite Nathan's objections ("I have class?"), Kyah successfully dragged him to go play hooky on a beautiful day in Chicago. To this day, it's still one of their absolute favorite memories.
Nathan Moves to Madison, 2019
Before the end of Freshman year, Kyah and Nathan were becoming closer. Music and Atwater Beach had become a large part of their friendship -- until one day, it became a large part of their relationship:
As the sun went down, listening to music at Atwater became dancing at Atwater, which turned into a small kiss at Atwater. But after several months of dating, Nathan headed to his dream school in Madison, WI, and needed to move 2 hours away. Even though they were both so happy for the news, they made the decision to amicably split, despite the great year they'd had.
Reconnecting in Yellowstone, 2020
A year after Nathan and Kyah split, Kyah was working as a housekeeper in Yellowstone National Park. Nathan had been working all summer at a factory in Wisconsin. One day, Kyah received a text from a familiar name; Nathan was coming to Yellowstone with various friends and was looking for a place to sleep and shower -- and Kyah knew a spot (her employee dorm room, very luxurious).
Although Kyah and Nathan didn't get a chance to speak 1:1 for more than 10 minutes those days, they missed each other's friendship. By September, Kyah moved back to Milwaukee for the Fall semester, and Nathan came to visit -- where a dance on Atwater Beach was due, yet again.
Three Weeks on The Road, 2021
By December 2020, Kyah and Nathan realized exactly what every 40+ year-old meant by "if it's meant to be, it will be." A conclusion emerged: Kyah was moving to Madison.
Within months, Kyah switched her program to a 100% online degree, packed her truck-bed of stuff into Nathan's grandfather's pick-up, and they moved her into a 21-bedroom housing cooperative on Lake Mendota.
The two left on January 1st, 2021 for a three-week road trip across Arkansas (Mount Nebo), Texas (Big Bend National Park), New Mexico, (White Sands National Park, Organ-Needle Mountains), Arizona (Cosmic Campground, Saguaro National Park), and finally Colorado (Westcliffe). They ate way too many lettuce/mayo/salami sandwiches, slept in their car, and returned to Madison refreshed with their lives and each other.
Nathan & Kyah Graduate College, 2022
After two years of living in Madison, going on many road trips, Kyah's several-month stint in Dubai, UAE, and listening to a LOT of Music — Kyah graduated with her B.S. in Community Engagement & Education from UWM, and Nathan graduated with his B.S. in Computer Science from UW-Madison. Kyah accepted a job as a Creative Content Executive for a higher education marketing agency, and Nathan as a SQL Database Developer for Amcor.
The two were ready and excited to start their post-college lives together and moved to Menasha, WI for a few years of Nathan's hybrid work schedule.
Moving to Menasha, 2022
Together, Kyah and Nathan are many things: artists, musicians, adventurers, stubborn nerds, and people with a zest for life that also includes a lot of staying home. One thing they are not, though, is liars -- and they won't lie in saying that their home in Menasha sucked.
But even among mice problems, Wisconsin slumlords, a short stint with a very challenging foster dog, Levi, and countless attempts to get approved for fully remote work, Kyah and Nathan spent two years preparing, saving money, and researching insight for their big move to Colorado, which had been a dream since they were both 10 years old. When the day finally came, Kyah and Nathan packed up their 3 bedroom house, their dog Mozzie, and about 8 spreadsheets into a Uhaul and made their way to Fort Collins, Colorado, where they currently live.
Building an Army of Pets, 2023
In Menasha, Kyah and Nathan were lucky enough to adopt a black lab-hound mix, Mozzie. Mozzie is a sweet, expressive, bug-eyed boy whose favorite food is unfortunately paper towels. He is scared of people in motorized scooters, garbage trucks, and being home alone (we're working on it).
But of course, that's the perfect reason to get yet another dog. Enter Caffrey, who we adopted in June of 2024, just months after moving to Colorado. Caffrey is a Great Pyranees-Lab mix, who at the age of 4 months weighed approximately 50 pounds and was faster than Kyah, much to her annoyance. Named after the main characters from White Collar, both of these beautiful, bizarre animals were present for the couple through big life changes, and also helped them carry out their daily bidding (working from home) without going insane.
Living Our Colorado Dreams, 2024
2024 turned out to be a massive year for the "family." After starting a new job, moving to Colorado, and adopting a puppy, Kyah had a month-long art exhibition in downtown Fort Collins andwas honored as a 30 Under 3 for NoCo magazine. Nathan was finally remote, leaderboarding on an internationally-acclaimed game, and working on recording and publishing his own music.
This is why Kyah was incredibly surprised to experience Nathan's marriage proposal on a wooded trail near Fairplay, Colorado, where they had been on vacation. Even though Kyah ruined her own proposal by crying on top of Mt Sherman the day before, the proposal was the perfect culmination of over half a decade of true friendship, 20 US states, and way too many Gary Clark Jr. concerts. The two of them enjoy every single day together.
